Challenge No 3: Another day, another 26,000 jobs lost – Jan. 13, 2009.
Wow, I feel like a total downer! I’m constantly posting about job loss and other economic issues but there’s a reason for it, the economy is all doom and gloom. It is the very reason we started Crowd Rent. You look around your house and think, how can I make a buck? Rent your stuff to your neighbors locally!
If you’ve ever read books like Rich Dad Poor Dad or other “wealth building” books you’ll know one of the very tried and true methods of building wealth is to buy things that can make you money. Buying real estate is a great wealth-building vehicle. Buy a house, let it appreciate, and in the mean time, get someone to pay the mortgage. It’s practically immoral when you think of it, but it’s not, not even close. People need to rent for many reasons. The same is true of things around your house.
With credit markets as tight as they are it’s tough to buy a house especially a rental property. If you want to buy a $200,000 rental you’ll need at least $40,000 sitting around to drop into it. Now most people don’t have $40,000 laying around to tie up in a rental house. But who doesn’t have a few power tools, some sporting goods, or electronics laying around their house they’re not using much?
Crowd Rent is a service that allows people to build wealth. It gives the tools to the people to bring in a bit more income. Instead of the mega-depot home improvement making money renting, we can make money from the stuff mega-mart sold us. Once we reach a critical mass, you could literally outfit your whole garage with cool stuff and let it pay for itself or keep that garage empty and rent what you need.
